Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), founded in 1842, is the oldest, largest and most comprehensive university of technology in The Netherlands, with excellent international rankings. It offers a wide variety of education in Science, Engineering and Design. A total of 16,000 students are enrolled in one of its 14 bachelor programs (10,500 students) or in one of its 41 master programs (5,500 students). The Industrial Design Engineering Faculty (IDE) at TU Delft is one of the oldest and largest multi-disciplinary product and service design oriented research and education institutions in the world. IDE has been active in the aviation industry with various PhDs, courses with aviation focus (e.g. on service design and on human factors) and the Applied Aviation Lab for prototyping and testing new product and service concepts. Next IDE has close relations with the aviation industry e.g. being active member of SIM (Collaboration Innovative Mainport Schiphol), and performing research projects for key players like airports as Schiphol and Munich, airlines like AirFrance- KLM and Emirates and aircraft manufacturers like Airbus, Boeing and Embrear.


Role in the project

TU Delft will coordinate the PASSME project and is therefore leading Work Package (WP) 9 Project Management, with Peter Vink as an experienced EU Project Coordinator. Next, TU Delft will lead WP 1 based on its expertise in a variety of fields like SCM, service design, participatory design, design for aviation operations and aviation ecosystem. With these expertise TU Delft will also play a key role in WPs 3 and 5.
